With the first three singles having sounded almost identical…
… it turns out that what’s shaping up to be UK grime veteran Wiley’s first truly successful attempt at a mainstream album (See Clear Now did reach number 13 in the charts back in 2008) will after all have more features than just Ms. D and actually looks to be a very well rounded album.
“The Ascent” will feature a large range of London’s most prominent MCs, from Kano all the way to Ice Kid, and on the singer front, Wiley reunites with Emeli Sande (their first collaboration Never Be Your Woman reached the top 10 back in 2008), Tulisa is on there, Angel is on there and perhaps the most surprising guest and only US feature comes from Far East Movement on a track by the name of “So Alive” (a previous unoffical leaked tracklist had them on a song called “Loving Every Minute” so perhaps its not the only thing they recorded together?). However, the Grime godfather and LA party rockers history does date back to before “Like A G6”, when Wiley and Tinie Tempah featured on a remix of the group’s single “Girls On The Dancefloor” (which you can check out here) back in 2010.
“The Ascent” hits stores on February 4th but in the meantime, check out the official artwork at the top of this page, the tracklist below and let me know what songs you’re most looking forward to hearing!
