It’s impossible to say yet quite how pop will pan out in 2013 but one of the main changes that I’m anticipating (and that has already begun to happen) is the demise of the necessity for every popstar to have a tacky David Guetta/RedOne electropop knock off style single and and for quality, radio friendly, more bubbly, popular electronic music to come to the forefront. With Disclosure leading the way already, that’s what I’m sure will happen in the UK anyway, with the USA following suit in 2014.
One of the early advocaters of that trend is Duke Dumont and A*M*E’s feelgood “Need U (100%)” which has captured the perfect sound for the radio, the club, the morning, the night, the summer and just about everything and everywhere else inbetween. For that reason, I could definitely see it being both artists’ breakthrough single when it hits iTunes on March 31st.
The video isn’t the best and doesn’t really capture the key essence of the song in my opinion but there are some funny moments and it’s bound to catch some people’s eyes, so press play below and let me know your thoughts.
