Original article: After a somewhat illusive 2012 (in which although very little was said, his name was kept as very much a hot topic thanks to a scattering of the year’s standout rap guest verses), it’s official – Drake is back!
Universal Music (Cash Money’s parent label) has confirmed to Billboard that Drake will release the lead single from his forthcoming third album on the night of the 55th Annual Grammy Awards, February 10th, and it will go by the name of “Started From The Bottom”.
Speaking previously to Billboard, Cash Money Records co-CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams speculated that that Grammy night will be “the highlight of their life”:
This year we got something in store. We got a new record coming out this year. It’s just one of those nights that, after seeing each other together, that’ll be like the highlight of our night, the highlight of our life, the highlight of our year.”
Drake trusts me because we go back. We are from Toronto. We are from the same city. We did “HYFR” together. It really worked. We’ve been trying to work together for a long time so when it connected…it connected. And we kind of ran with that. I can’t really say too much about it…but he’s got a lot going on. He’s one of those guys that want to spend the money to make great video. That’s what he did. He went for it. He did his best to make a great video.
There is currently no word on how the song will sound but the best indication of that state that he’s in sonically right now is probably “Number 15″, a song that first appeared in the background of a shisha smoking video last year but found its place on Virginia rapper Nikelus F’s new free album “Vice”, which you can stream and download below.
