NEW J. Cole, Icona Pop, Kid British & MORE!

Since the weekend, I’ve been extremely busy and had a massive backlog of music to post so to get back up to date, here are the highlights of what’s been happening since last Friday!

J Cole – I’m A Fool

What seemed like an innocent tweet from a fan asking Cole if his new record he’d performed at a show was out yet (which it wasn’t, at the time anyway) turned into the North Carolina rapper emailing the girl the song, letting her leak it onto twitter!

It’s not officially attached to a project as of yet but as you can see here, there is a tracklist floating around that may or may not materialise into something sooner than we were expecting. As with the majority of his material, Cole produced the song himself too and I think it’s fair to say that it’s one of the best production I’ve heard from Cole, ever. Elle Varner – I Don’t Care (Official Music Video)

As a big fan of Elle Varner, I must admit that I was a bit disappointed with her debut album “Perfectly Imperfect” but here’s the brand new video for one of the project’s stronger and most sensual cuts, “I Don’t Care”.

Asher Roth – Wrestling Is Fake

Asher Roth is back with a brand new party song, produced by Oren Yoel and premièred on Sway In The Morning. I’m still not convinced that Roth is anything more than a one hit wonder, but this is what he does best.

Nardwuar vs. Big Sean

The interviewer of all interviewers, Nardwuar the human serviette, catches up with Big Sean in Vancouver, British Colombia.

Rick Ross – Hold Me Back (Nigeria Version) (Official Music Video)

From the projects of New Orleans to the slums of Nigeria, Ricky Rozay gives us the second music video for “God Forgives, I Don’t” power anthem “Hold Me Back”.

Kid British – You Against The World (Official Music Video)

Kid British, in my opinion one of the most underrated bands in the UK of the past few years, just announced their splitting but it’s not over quite yet as here is their farewell single ”You Against The World” (which is already one of my favourite songs by them!). They will also be playing 3 final shows in October, which you can book tickets for here.

Swedish House Mafia - Don’t You Worry Child (Official Music Video)

Another group that recently announced their splitting is electronic supergroup Swedish House Mafia, who’s farewell single “Don’t You Worry Child” has been one of my favourite songs of the past month or so and now has a video! They will be missed.

Crooked I ft K-Young – Praise God (Official Music Video)

Slaughterhouse’s Crooked I reunites with R&B singer/songwriter K-Young for a brand new single “Praise God”, taken from Crooked I’s latest mixtape “Psalm82:v6″. Be on the look out for my interview with K-Young in issue 2 of Beatz Magazine, dropping October 14th.
