Being the pop icon that she is, when I first saw that Mariah Carey’s comeback single was featuring Rick Ross and his MMG protege Meek Mill, I was quite skeptical… but it really has worked.
It’s probably the best verse I’ve ever heard from Meek, followed by a very stellar verse from Rozay that’s one of the best I’ve heard from him a long time too, leaving the rest of the song seem somewhat irrelevant which is a shame as that’s not a dig at Mariah, she does what she does, but putting her verse first or in the middle would have made a lot more sense, or perhaps even putting a third rapper on the third verse.
It’s a great pop record and a major look for Meek Mill especially, but with Mariah’s input on the song being so underwhelming, I’m not sure if she’ll be able to pull off a whole album to her old standards.
If this was an MMG single with Carey as the feature, everyone would go crazy for it but due to the fact that it should be Mariah stealing the show, I’ve got a feeling it could just get swept under the carpet and lead to push backs, label fall outs and the whole works. Anyway, have a watch of the video below and let me know your thoughts!
